We've introduced a new bulk bag design

Our bulk bags all now contain a minimum of 30% recycled content as part of the company’s ongoing aim to reduce its carbon footprint.

The new design of Bulk bags, which are used to deliver aggregates to construction projects across the North East and Yorkshire, will have approx. 14.4 tons less plastic than the previous design per annum.

We began the stringent process with LC Packaging at the beginning 2021 to design and develop the new bags. The process involved external tests to confirm they meet the required safety factor. LC Packaging are the only producer to have achieved an Intertek certificate which outline the process that they follow within their factory to insure the HMRC guidelines are met.

Rob Richardson, commercial director said: “Our work with LC Packaging is an ongoing process as we both continue the work to improve and optimise the bulk bags and increase awareness of sustainability, working in a way which doesn’t limit next generations choices or the resources they have available.

“Our new bulk bags are just part of our company aim to reduce our carbon footprint. It follows our recent investment of £125k on five new electric forklifts. We now have 30 electric forklifts across our branches, meaning just under 50% of our fleet has now been converted to electric.”
