Apprentices

While we see the benefit of retaining our highly experienced team we also see the necessity of looking to the future by investing in an apprenticeship programme. Purchase Ledger Clerk, Gateshead

Job Description

The successful candidate will become part of our well establish and knowledgeable accounts team.  We are a large family run business originally established in 1877, although the company has grown considerably with a turnover of over £90m we have maintained the culture of a family business where each person is recognised as important to the success of the company. 

Purchase ledger are looking forward to welcoming an additional member to their team.  They would ideally like to find someone who has experience and who can bring some additional knowledge to what is already a well-respected team, although this is not essential.  They are equally open to someone with the right attitude and commitment.

This is also an exciting opportunity for someone to join at a time that we are expanding by opening our 11th branch in Billingham.  Many of our people have been with us for a long time, with a number having over 20, and some over 30 years’ service.  We believe this says a lot about our company and our culture which is team orientated and based on the relationships between everyone at all levels.

Duties will include but is not limited to:

  • Process purchase ledger invoices.
  • Prepare and process all direct to site invoices.
  • Liaising with customers, suppliers as well as the sales departments regarding invoice queries.
  • Process supplier and customer credit notes.
  • Reconcile supplier statements.
  • Respond to supplier requests for payment.
  • Scan invoices, delivery notes and all relative paperwork.
  • Complete a daily sales report, via excel.
  • Preparing ad hoc reports for the Head of Finance.

CANDIDATE: We are looking for a well-presented individual who is enthusiastic and a good team player. You must have strong numerical and communication skills, be able to work to tight deadlines and have an attention to detail. You should be self-motivated with the ability to solve problems. Experience within accounts is not essential.

THE PACKAGE: Salary is dependent on experience, other benefits include 27 days holiday plus bank holidays, annual PRP Bonus, option to buy or sell holidays and life assurance among others.

Warehouse Operative, Billingham

Job Description

THE ROLE:   The Warehouse Operative will be expected to pick orders for customers and company vehicles as well as load and unload company, customer and supplier vehicles. 

CANDIDATE:  Due to the extremely fast paced environment the successful candidate needs to be willing to work well under pressure and have recent experience of driving a forklift truck with a current license. They must also be reliable with good organisational skills and be comfortable assisting customers.  They also need to have the right attitude, being willing to help and go that extra mile.  The successful candidate would ideally have experience of working in a builders merchants.  However, having good product knowledge on a range of building materials and experience of working in a warehouse/yard environment would be an advantage.

Logistics Administrator, Ossett

Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Logistics Administrator.

James Burrell are a large family run business originally established in 1877, although the company has grown considerably with a turnover of over £90m we have maintained the culture of a family business where each person is recognised as important to the success of the company.

The Ossett branch are looking forward to welcoming an additional member to their logistics team.  They would ideally like to find someone who has experience with manually planning transport loads and booking goods into stock.

This is also an exciting opportunity for someone to join at a time that we are expanding by opening our 11th branch in Billingham.  Many of our people have been with us for a long time, with a number having over 20, and some over 30 years’ service.  We believe this says a lot about our company and our culture which is team orientated and based on the relationships between everyone at all levels.

THE ROLE:  As the role of a Logistics Administrator, you will:

  • Book goods received onto the computer.
  • Liaise with suppliers and the purchasing department regarding shortages, damages or returned goods.
  • Create customers invoices from the delivery notes and amend shortages.
  • Work alongside the Stock Controller regarding adjustments, stock control and Chain of Custody.
  • Work alongside the Transport Supervisor planning the next day deliveries of customer orders to a designated delivery area.
  • Create driver log sheets.
  • Clarify delivery addresses and timed drops with the sales teams.
  • Liaise with the Company Transport Department to arrange the servicing and repair of vehicles.
  • Provide cover for the Transport Supervisor during holidays.

CANDIDATE: The successful candidate must have the ability to plan, organise and problem solve as well as having a can-do attitude. Previous experience of goods in and transport planning is desirable.

Job Description

THE ROLE:  To support and further develop the roofing specialist team by servicing our existing customers, as well as promoting roofing sales business to new customers.

DUTIES: The successful candidate will join our established sales team, be responsible for building relationships with customers, providing quotes on projects, providing admin support and negotiating prices and terms.

CANDIDATE: We are seeking a sales professional with experience in roofing related sales/admin. The candidate must be professional, customer orientated and proactive, as well as having good organisation skills.
