Relief LGV Driver, Northern Branches

Job Description

THE ROLE: You will be required to provide holiday and sickness cover for the LGV Drivers at 4 of our Northern branches, Gateshead, Newcastle, Morpeth and Blyth. When driving you will ensure that materials are delivered accurately to customer locations as well as doing daily vehicle safety checks.

This is a permanent full-time role where you will be driving the majority of the time, on the odd occasion that you weren’t required to drive you would work in the Gateshead Warehouse. However, our current Relief Drivers are mainly on the road and rarely if ever have the opportunity to work in the warehouse.

The Relief Driver has first refusal when a permanent vehicle becomes available.

CANDIDATE: We are seeking a reliable and well-presented person who has good knowledge of the area as well as good product knowledge on a range of building materials. An ideal background would be someone with builders merchant experience.

THE WAGONS: We offer a newer fleet of wagons which are maintained to a very high standard. All of our 26T wagons are automatic and the majority of our wagons are fitted with either a HIAB or Palfinger crane.

QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must have a LGV Category C Licence (previously known as HGV Class 2), a current HIAB licence, digital tachograph and up to date Driver CPC.  

We offer a competitive salary and 35 days holiday per annum, including bank holidays, an annual PRP bonus, and the option to buy or sell holidays and life assurance among others.

The working week will be Monday to Friday.

You will be reimbursed for any additional travelling expenses incurred when not working from Gateshead.

Builders Merchant Apprentice, York

Job Description

THE ROLE: A Builders Merchant Apprentice would be expected to learn all aspects of working within a builder’s merchant spending time working in both the Warehouse and Sales Office including time on the trade counter.  They would also be required to develop their knowledge of the products sold as well as learning about building relationships with customers and suppliers.

DUTIES:  Within the sales office the successful candidate will assist the more experienced sales people within the team, raising orders and inputting information on the computer system as well as serving customers and answering telephones. During their time in the Warehouse, they will load/unload customer and supplier vehicles and pick orders for James Burrell vehicles. 

CANDIDATE: We are looking for smart, presentable individuals who are enthusiastic to learn and develop their knowledge and skills.  As a company we have a proven track record of developing apprentices into more Senior Roles so this is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking for a long-term career and shows aptitude and commitment to the role.   

In return we offer the right candidates full support and training, as well as 27 days holidays per year, a Monday to Friday working week. Starting salary will be £10,500.00 per annum, to be reviewed as the successful candidate progresses.

Job Description

THE ROLE: As a Pricing Analyst you will be part of a small commercial team whose purpose is to provide meaningful information to guide decision making to ultimately improve profitability. Primarily the focus will be on pricing analyst and coordinating perpetual price file maintenance to ensure the system is correct at all times.

Duties will be varied, they will include but are not limited to:

• Data analysis
• Price file maintenance
• Implementation of prices increases
• Discrepancy investigation and corrections
• Identifying opportunities to increase profitability
• Being a point of contact for data related queries
• Administration and support for the Commercial Team

CANDIDATE: We are looking for strongly organised individual who is enthusiastic and committed, has excellent attention to detail and is a good team player. You must be proficient in using excel and I.T. literate, have a good understanding of the impact of pricing and profit margins and the ability to work unsupervised and to a schedule. A basic knowledge of building materials is desirable.

THE PACKAGE: Salary is £20K to 25K dependent on experience, other benefits include 27 days holiday plus bank holidays, annual PRP Bonus, option to buy or sell holidays and life assurance among others. The normal working week will be Monday to Friday.

Goods in/Transport Planning Assistant, Ossett

Job Description

THE ROLE: For goods in you will book goods received onto the computer system, liaise with suppliers and the purchasing department regarding shortages, damages or returned goods. Create customer invoices from the delivery notes, amend shortages on delivery notes and work alongside the Stock Controller regarding adjustments, stock control and Chain of Custody.

As a Transport Planning Assistant, you will assistant the Transport Planner organising the next day deliveries of customer orders in a designated delivery area, create Drivers log sheets, clarify delivery addresses and timed drops with the sales team as well as liaise with the company transport department to arrange the servicing and repair of vehicles. You will be expected provide cover to the Transport Planner during holidays.

CANDIDATE: The successful candidate must have the ability to plan, organise and problem solve as well as having a can-do attitude. Previous experience of transport planning is essential and previous experience of goods in is desirable.

Job Description

THE ROLE: The Warehouse Operative will be expected to pick orders for customers and company vehicles as well as load and unload company, customer and supplier vehicles. 

CANDIDATE: Due to the extremely fast paced environment the successful candidate needs to be willing to work well under pressure and have recent experience of driving a forklift truck with a current license. They must also be reliable with good organisational skills and be comfortable assisting customers.  They also need to have the right attitude, being willing to help and go that extra mile.  The successful candidate would ideally have experience of working in a builders merchants.  However, having good product knowledge on a range of building materials and experience of working in a warehouse/yard environment would be an advantage.

THE ROLE:   As an Assistant Buyer you would identify and replenish low levels of stock by selecting the company’s preferred source of supply.  Participate in negotiations with suppliers and ensure all purchase orders are priced accurately.  You would also liaise with purchase ledger, logistics, sales and suppliers regarding any discrepancies or damages as well as maintaining and monitoring inventory levels of all stock.

CANDIDATE: We are seeking someone with experience in this area who is reliable and well-presented and is able to build relationships easily with common sense and an ability to solve problems.  Preferably with good knowledge of a wide range of building materials but particularly with roofing products, an ideal background would be someone with buying experience within the roofing or construction industry.
